But also many to represent fantasy too. for example, wands and mystical animals and teleportation commonly presented through the trailer.

audience profile tasks

film poster

language:

The title being at the bottom, in a much bolder and different colour, draws the attention of the onlooker so they know exactly what the film is. The title and tag line are appropriately places  with the billing block positioned at the bottom in small font follows all the required  codes and conventions for a typical film advisement. However,  the actors and actresses are listed at the top of the poster, possibly a less common way of placement.

Institution:

Eragon was produced by Davis Entertainment and was directed by stefen Fangmeier. ( also the director of other famous films such as saving private Ryan and Terminator 2) The film was the 31st highest grossing film in the United States.

audience:

This film's target audience would be a mix gender ( possibly more masculine) audience of ages between possibly 10-18, as it is a PG rating but does contain some violent scenes of death and maiming. this film will be enjoyed primarily by people interested in fantasy.

Representation:

The focal point is a young man standing directly centre of the poster, the glowing object drawing your attention to him. he is flanked by a woman and 3 men, suggesting it is a more masculine film. in the foreground you can clearly see the top half and wings of a dragon, emphasising the genre of the film and in the background, a sort of castle or mountain,  giving the onlookers and idea of the setting the film will be in.

WWW: Two excellent posts – but also missing work. The opening questions (particularly the Pointless answers) and the Minority Report analysis are both very good: comprehensive and showing thought and insight. You’ve clearly got great potential in Media but we’ve also got some catching up to do.

EBI: I know you’ve missed lessons but I’d still like you to catch up with the work you’re missing: LIAR film poster analysis; fruit bowl; Camerawork photo storyboard (you may need to use another group’s photos for this). Get this work done and send me an email when it’s on your blog. One area to work on is the depth of your written analysis: over time you’ll need to be writing in much more detailed paragraphs that offer the depth required for A/A*. Writing high-level analysis means exploring the different possible interpretations that audiences may take from a media product such as a film poster.

LR: Post the missing pieces of work and send me an email when they’re up on your blog. Then, reflect on your first month of Media. What do you feel is your strongest piece of work so far? What is your weakest? What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course?

This medium close up allows us to see the facial expressions of each individual, many of them look serious, yet you can see a slight sign of denial or upset for they are hunting down a fellow colleague. This could possibly show that they don't want to or find it hard to participate in the hunt. There is enough background visible to establish they are by escalators, enquiring that they are in a subway station. Visible to the audience is the remaining police force, meaning that the onlookers are able to see how many people are onto this particular case, and possibly shows the severity of the case they are on, despite there expressions showing possible compassion towards the person who they are giving chase to. It succeeds to portray an image of urgency yet a slight reluctance.

What is visible here is an establishing shot of the ally way in which he runs too. You are able to see a derelict area and a burned out car, in which could portray the next situation, as he is running into a more dangerous looking setting. The camera technique used was a whip pan, which expresses the idea of action whilst showing you more of the ally way he is running into. The look of the alleyway shows danger through the expression of the ruins of the car and the abandonment. All of these can foreshadow that a fight or something bad is due to come.

This is a medium close up/ close up of the main characters face. you can see clear emotions of reluctance and upset. He is looking sideways, conveying the idea that someone is standing near him. You are able to see a slight area of background, which portrays that he is in a more broken down or metallic building site. this could effect the views mood on the scene as it could cause sympathy or worry for it isn't the most safe of areas. this could predict upcoming danger.there is a slight upper angle to the camera, making it seem that he is weak, reflecting the idea that coming up against he former colleges is hard for him, yet the obvious intentions to escape is clear in the minimal body posture the audience is able to see.

GCSE media

                                                       GCSE Media Option

I chose GCSE Media Studies because I've already done GCSE photography (B grade) and would like to expand my ability to also editing ad other creative media, and not just taking basic photos. I have also been used for media (e.g. acting or model for images) and would like a chance to express my own ideas.
The particular part of media I look forward to is creating my own music video, as it would be a new experience, and I have many ideas i wish to conduct.
The main skill I wish to learn from this experience is video editing, as I already can do photo editing and video editing seems like the next step up, I step I am quite excited about learning.
Realistically, I am aiming for at least an A, as it would mean I did better then photography (my main goal). However, I would be overly happy is i did manage an A* by the end of the year.
the last thing I watched was season 3 of Lost, which I think is gripping for people who enjoy mystery and possibly super natural as it constantly laves you thinking and slowly solving puzzles and, with multiple theories to the ending, is something that is constantly causing you to think about it, as I believe a good piece of media should.
In the last 24 hours I have used the television and my phone to access the media; for the news, YouTube and music for entertainment purposes. I would say however, that I use my phone the most to access the media as it is constantly on my person and i use it in my spare time for recreational and educational means.
the game show Pointless, is very engaging for the viewers, as they use humour for entertainment but also ask questions in which the viewers can answer and so feel involved. They use the same host so he becomes a familiar sight to the onlookers and so the feelings of familiarity could be good for people who enjoy the programme, and Alexander Armstrong is a friendly and funny person so is a brilliant host to watch.
